The Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs struggled with assists on Friday (the St. David's Warriors had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wake Christian Academy had to suffer through a rough 60-27 loss at the hands of St. David's. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wake Christian Academy in their matchups with St. David's: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Wake Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Emma Crissman scored 17 points along with four steals. Crissman scored a full 63% of Wake Christian Academy's points, the 15th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Caroline Hall was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Rebecca Leshnock was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with eight steals for St. David's. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kate Benson, who scored 15 points along with seven steals.
Wake Christian Academy now has a losing record at 7-8. As for St. David's, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wake Christian Academy will take on Oak Forest at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. David's, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fayetteville Academy at 5:30 p.m. Fayetteville Academy is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
