Two dominant players in Perry Fields and Omar Davis are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Constitution Generals will be playing at home against the Overbrook Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Constitution's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Constitution posted their biggest win since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Mastery Charter North - Pickett 71-49. Given Constitution's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Mastery Charter North - Pickett is ranked 515th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Constitution to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyree Latimer, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Fields, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Overbrook's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 59-46 to Middletown.
Overbrook's defeat came about despite a quality game from Nasir Kelly, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Kelly is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tahmiere Manning, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Constitution's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. As for Overbrook, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Constitution hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 66.9 points per game. It's a different story for Overbrook, though, as they've been averaging only 57.2 points per game. The only thing between Constitution and another offensive beatdown is Overbrook. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Constitution was able to grind out a solid win over Overbrook in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 76-65. Will Constitution repeat their success, or does Overbrook have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
