Pine Forest has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Western Harnett Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 83-45, which was the final score in Pine Forest's tilt against Westover on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Pine Forest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while Westover is ranked 80th).
The losing side was boosted by Dwayne Johnson, who scored 13 points. The game was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Malachi Cooke, who scored 7 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Western Harnett, who are still winless after their seventh contest. They suffered a rough 76-50 defeat at the hands of Lee County on Wednesday. Western Harnett has not had much luck with Lee County recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Pine Forest has yet to win a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 1-3 record. As for Western Harnett, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Pine Forest took their victory against Western Harnett in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 65-41. Will Pine Forest repeat their success, or does Western Harnett have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
