2A/1A Rocky River recap Oct. 30, 2012
Monroe extended the longest winning streak in 2A/1A Rocky River this week by beating Forest Hills, 28-23. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Redhawks.
Union Academy took down Central Academy 47-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Aaron Mack threw for 108 yards and two touchdowns and ran for four yards in the win.
Emmitt Afam was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 159 yards on 18 carries as Cuthbertson topped the Yellowjackets. Teammate Connor Sorensen added to the ground attack by rushing for 90 yards.
Barbour was the best wideout in the league this week as daniel goings' team defeated Forest Hills. Barbour tallied three receptions for 75 yards. Lavonte Baker helped Monroe's passing attack out by catching one ball for 24 yards.
Quashaun Chambers provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Redhawks beat John Lowery's team. He completed five passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 108 yards.
Hunter Lunsford threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns. He was 10-17 with two interceptions.
On the ground, North Stanly's Antonio Williams has rushed for 1412 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Afam. The Cuthbertson star has 45 catches for 840 yards.
Chambers of the Monroe is only 52 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Chambers has rushed for 948 yards on 120 carries so far this year.
The Comets and West Stanly played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Comets eventually emerging with a 24-20 victory. Lunsford ran for seven yards in the win.
