The Birmingham Patriots are on the road again on Saturday and play against the Acalanes Dons at 11:30 a.m. on December 9th. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Birmingham: 12.6, Acalanes: 14.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Birmingham walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Nighthawks 30-28.
Among those leading the charge was Kingston Tisdell, who threw for 225 yards and four touchdowns. Peyton Waters did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Acalanes can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-14 victory over Escalon at home. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Acalanes had established a 28 point advantage.
Acalanes' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sully Bailey, who rushed for 33 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 204 yards and a touchdown on only 13 passes. Another player making a difference was Jack Miller, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
The last time Birmingham lost on the road was back back in September. Having now won four straight away games, they've pushed their record up to 12-2. As for Acalanes, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Saturday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Birmingham commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Acalanes struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 per game.
