Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Russell). They managed a 73-69 victory over the Hill City Ringnecks on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 56-43 back in January.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Russell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trey Carlson, who posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, Carlson is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Jake Mooney, who put up 14 points.
Despite the loss, Hill City still got an impressive performance from Vincent Zohner, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Zohner a new career-high in field goal percentage (78%). Kason Mauck also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Russell now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Hill City, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-12.
