Blue Water Area recap Oct. 23, 2012
Croswell-Lexington extended the longest winning streak in Blue Water Area this week by beating Mason, 35-14. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Pioneers.
Armada was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Tigers defeated Marlette 21-20.
Trevor Holston and Nicolas Burton gave Armada a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Holston threw for 43 yards, while Burton ran for 168 yards. Teammate Ross Querro added to the ground attack by rushing for 93 yards.
Tyler Banks was the best wideout in the league this week as Algonac beat Memphis. Banks racked up two receptions for 34 yards. DeJean DeWitt helped Algonac's passing attack out by catching one ball for 19 yards.
The Muskrats' Mike Baranowski and Banks have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Blue Water Area in both passing and receiving yards. Baranowski has thrown for 416 yards this season, while Banks has 11 catches for 307 yards. Mark Brandimarte's team's Burton leads the league in rushing yards with 887.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Croswell-Lexington takes on Yale. Jason VanDerMaas' team is currently in first, while the Bulldogs are in fifth.
Almont led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Detroit Community.
