The East Eagles the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Green Tech Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on January 20th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Saturday.
Last Saturday, East came up short against Greece Athena and fell 65-58. The loss put an end to East's undefeated start to the season.
Meanwhile, Green Tech put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 70-40 win over University Prep at home. Given Green Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while University Prep is ranked 194th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Green Tech's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from U'Mier Graham, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ramere Brown, who scored 13 points.
East's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-1. As for Green Tech, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5.
East was able to grind out a solid victory over Green Tech in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 77-70. Will East repeat their success, or does Green Tech have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
