Even though the Atkins Camels scored an imposing 76 points on Saturday, the Shining Light Academy Knights still came out on top. Shining Light Academy managed a 81-76 victory over Atkins. Given Shining Light Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Atkins is ranked 407th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Alik Lewis, who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 38 points and 4 assists. Lewis is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Adams, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, ten rebounds, and ten assists.
Shining Light Academy's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.1 points per game. As for Atkins, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shining Light Academy will face off against Guilford Home Educators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Atkins, Atkins and Ben L. Smith will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
