Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hickory Ridge). They blew past the South Iredell Vikings 78-21 on Friday. The Ragin' Bulls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 22 points or more this season.
Ma-Kaela Gidney was her usual excellent self, going 9 for 15 en route to 24 points along with five boards and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Amya Leathers was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.
Hickory Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.
Hickory Ridge pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39 points. As for South Iredell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hickory Ridge will square off against Lake Norman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
