The Highland Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Mountain View Toros at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mountain View will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Highland extended their winning streak to six on Thursday. The Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand Desert Ridge a 21-0 shutout.
Kennedie Nelson tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Highland let Alena Mascarenas and Makayla Royer run wild. Mascarenas fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4, while Royer went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave Mascarenas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karsyn Norton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Highland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Mountain View made easy work of Skyline on Monday and carried off a 12-1 victory.
Allison Robles made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Robles was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Hadlie Goodman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kynleigh Pedi also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Highland's record is now 16-8. As for Mountain View, their record now sits at an identical 16-8.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Highland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've averaged .390. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Highland was able to grind out a solid win over Mountain View when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
