The Monroe Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 30-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harrison. While losing is never fun, Monroe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while Harrison is ranked 48th).
Harrison's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abby Smith, who scored 11 points. The game was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alli Robertson, who scored 9 points.
Monroe now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Harrison, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Monroe will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Brookville at 7:15 p.m. As for Harrison, they will head out on the road to face off against Mt. Healthy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
