If the Meadow Bridge Wildcats were feeling good off their 50-24 takedown of the Hundred Hornets on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Meadow Bridge took a 38-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Hardy on Saturday. Meadow Bridge lost against East Hardy in their previous head to head back in December of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 51-24 score last time.
Despite the loss, Meadow Bridge had strong showings from Lily Hayes, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Riley Roberts, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Roberts grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Simmons, who scored three points along with three steals.
It was another big night for Brooklynn Tinnell, who scored 19 points along with four steals for East Hardy. That makes it five consecutive games in which Tinnell has scored at least 25% of East Hardy's points. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Miller, who scored eight points.
Meadow Bridge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for East Hardy, their victory bumped their record up to 1-4.
Meadow Bridge will head out on the road to face off against Richwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Richwood is ranked 87th, while Meadow Bridge is ranked 66th). East Hardy and Frankfort will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
