At bat, Morrissey went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Foster went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Keyara Watkins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Chamberlain, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Serra Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.
Meanwhile, Jeannette entered their tilt with Greensburg Central Catholic on Wednesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Centurions. That's two games straight that the Jayhawks have won by exactly three runs.
Grace Stein made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Stein was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Raylyn Gallik, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI.
Jeannette's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Serra Catholic, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Serra Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Jeannette struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
