Southwestern is a perfect 3-0 against South Central since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. Southwestern is taking a road trip to take on South Central at 11:00 a.m. Southwestern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Southwestern barely beat Jac-Cen-Del the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Eagles on Friday. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Chloey Leach made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Leach was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Crawford, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lilly Fox, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Southwestern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, South Central didn't have quite enough to beat Clarksville on Thursday and fell 2-1. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kaylee Chanley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Southwestern's record is now 10-12. As for South Central, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
Southwestern took their victory against South Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southwestern since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
