It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Monache had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They snuck past the Coalinga Horned Toads with a 52-47 victory. The win was nothing new for the Marauders as they're now sitting on five straight.
Ty Baxter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 31 points and three steals. Monache is undefeated when Baxter posts 25 or more points, but 10-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of E'Saun Jefferson, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.
Several Horned Toads players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaden Pena, who put up 22 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. The matchup was Pena's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Masai Richard, who scored six points and eight rebounds.
Monache's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points over those games. As for Coalinga, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-7.
Monache has already played their next game, a 58-55 win against Corcoran on the 21st. Coalinga does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
