The Central Regional Golden Eagles and the Manchester Township Hawks will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Central Regional has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Manchester Township will arrive with seven straight victories.
Central Regional suffered their biggest defeat since December 20, 2023 on January 11th. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 61-36 walloping at the hands of Monroe Township. While losing is never fun, Central Regional can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Monroe Township is ranked 115th).
Meanwhile, Manchester Township can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Wednesday. They blew past Pinelands Regional 61-28 at home. 61 seems to be a good number for Manchester Township as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
It was another big night for Devyn Quigley, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Manchester Township's points. Another player making a difference was Madeline Nolan, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Central Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Manchester Township, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.
Central Regional came up short against Manchester Township in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 50-37. Can Central Regional avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
