Baseball Recap: Parkersburg South Has No Trouble Against Huntington

Parkersburg South never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Huntington on Friday. They blew past the Highlanders 16-7. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Parkersburg South got a massive performance out of Carter McLain, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. McLain has become a key player for the Patriots: the team is 12-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ McCartney, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Parkersburg South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Parkersburg South has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Huntington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-18 record this season.
