After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Boca Raton, the Saint Andrew's Scots were happy to have found some success on Monday. They snuck past American Heritage with a 39-35 victory. For Saint Andrew's, this counts as revenge for the 41-36 defeat American Heritage walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.
Saint Andrew's got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Smith out in front who scored 16 points along with six steals. Smith hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Bret Marbach, who scored seven points.
When it comes to explaining why American Heritage lost, one person who can't be blamed is Skylar Turk. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points. That was a full 62.9% of American Heritage's points, marking the 13th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jayden Presser was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Saint Andrew's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for American Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.
Saint Andrew's will head out on the road to challenge Pine Crest at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for American Heritage, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Boca Raton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Boca Raton is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
