The Oasis Academy Bighorns will head out on the road to square off against the Sierra Lutheran Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Oasis Academy is ranked 94th, while Sierra Lutheran is ranked 102nd).
Oasis Academy struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Wednesday (North Tahoe was 46% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Oasis Academy took a 47-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Tahoe. Oasis Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Oasis Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Matthew Bird, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds, and Adams Hunter who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kayden White, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Sierra Lutheran beat Coral Academy of Science - Reno 56-44 on Friday. The win was just what Sierra Lutheran needed coming off of a 82-59 loss in their prior game.
Oasis Academy has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Sierra Lutheran, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-16.
Everything went Oasis Academy's way against Sierra Lutheran in their previous matchup back in January as Oasis Academy made off with a 45-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oasis Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
