The Batavia Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Batavia is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Batavia got themselves on the board against St. Charles East, but St. Charles East never followed suit. They really took it to the Fighting Saints for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-0 win at home. Given Batavia's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while St. Charles East is ranked 193rd), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Batavia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Whelpley, who rushed for 47 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught two touchdowns. Drew Dibiase got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, everything went Wheaton-Warrenville South's way against Lake Park on Friday as Wheaton-Warrenville South made off with a 31-8 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wheaton-Warrenville South.
Batavia has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven matches, giving them a 6-1 record. As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Everything came up roses for Batavia against Wheaton-Warrenville South in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as the squad secured a 35-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Batavia since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
