Gouverneur came tearing into Wednesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Franklin Academy Huskies an 8-0 shutout. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Renisa Richards made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her seven plate appearances with two stolen bases and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arianna Wood, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Emilee Hance was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Gouverneur pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
