The Lake County Panthers were the 48-47 winner over the Arvada Bulldogs when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lake County was beaten by Arvada 47-15 on Friday. Lake County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Lake County saw an underclassman step up: Isabella Speckman scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Speckman has scored all season.
It was another big night for Emma Ngewasi, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals for Arvada. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ngewasi has scored at least a third of Arvada's points. Carolina Trevino was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Lake County's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Arvada, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.
Lake County will be playing in front of their home fans against Platte Canyon at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lake County is coming into the matchup with six straight defeats at home, meaning Platte Canyon will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Arvada, they will head out on the road to face off against Jefferson at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Jefferson is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
