The Trenton Tigers came tearing into Monday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Branford at home to the tune of 59-15. The result was nothing new for Trenton, who have now won seven contests by 23 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Nyima Gillyard, who scored 17 points along with four steals. The contest was her tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kayley Sloan, who scored ten points.
Trenton pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Branford, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Trenton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Newberry at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th. Hopefully Newberry focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. Branford will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Cedar Key at 5:00 p.m. on December 21st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Cedar Key is ranked 552nd, while Branford is ranked 570th).
