The Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers lost against the Trinity Lutheran Cougars back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The match between Shawe Memorial and the Cougars wasn't particularly close, with the Hilltoppers falling 71-54. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shawe Memorial in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost six in a row.
Trinity Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hudson Lang, who scored 19 points along with five assists and two steals. Lang hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kowan Gross, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Shawe Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Trinity Lutheran, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shawe Memorial will challenge the Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbus Christian is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Trinity Lutheran, they will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
