If the Westerville South Wildcats were riding high off their 66-21 takedown of the Dublin Scioto Irish last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Westerville South took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Big Walnut. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Westerville South of the 36-33 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Westerville South saw an underclassman step up: Ariyana Cradle scored 19 points along with two steals. Cradle has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cirrye White, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Westerville South's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5. As for Big Walnut, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Westerville South will head out on the road to take on Westerville North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Westerville North is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. Big Walnut will take on Franklin Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklin Heights will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 695th, while Big Walnut is ranked 55th).
