Dover hasn't had much luck against Spackenkill recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dragons will square off against the Spartans at 4:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Spackenkill will be up against a hot Dover team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Dragons never let Webutuck get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won four matches by nine runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Collin Russell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeramiah Kerr Lucero, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Dover always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Spackenkill had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 10-5 win over Millbrook on Thursday.
Dylan Boenig was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2024. Albie Hasbrouck was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Dover pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Spackenkill, their record now sits at 4-11.
Dover suffered a grim 16-2 defeat to Spackenkill in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
