Herriman has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Mountain Ridge Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Herriman has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 225 points over their last three matchups.
Even though Herriman has not done well against Copper Hills recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Herriman walked away with a 55-48 victory over Copper Hills. Given Herriman's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Copper Hills is ranked 53rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Malcolm Johnson, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Cale Barclay, who scored eight points along with two steals.
While Mountain Ridge couldn't quite beat Riverton on Friday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 23-point loss they were dealt on Tuesday. Mountain Ridge fell just short of Riverton by a score of 63-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Will Lindsay, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Sylvester, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Herriman has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Mountain Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.
Herriman didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mountain Ridge in their previous meeting on January 12th, but they still walked away with a 57-51 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mountain Ridge's Spencer Krainich, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Herriman still be able to contain Krainich? There's only one way to find out.
