The Riverside-Durham Pirates pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Northern Durham by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (55), Riverside-Durham still had to take the loss.
Riverside-Durham's loss came despite strong showings from Corey Hairston Jr. and Mekhi Sneed. Hairston Jr. scored 29 points along with two steals, while Sneed scored 14 points along with six assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hairston Jr. has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Kelleh, who scored no points along with seven assists and four steals.
Riverside-Durham has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season. As for Northern Durham, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Riverside-Durham will head out on the road to challenge Hillside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillside will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive. Northern Durham will take on East Chapel Hill at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
