Redwood has gone 9-1 against Archie Williams recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Giants will challenge the Peregrine Falcons at 4:30 p.m. Redwood will be strutting in after a win while Archie Williams will be coming in after a defeat.
Redwood will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Novato on Tuesday. The Giants were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Hornets. The Giants might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Stella Belluomini made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Belluomini was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Brown, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gia Meyers, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Redwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Archie Williams' offense. They came up short against San Marin on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Redwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Archie Williams, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-3.
Both Redwood and Archie Williams just can't seem to miss. The Giants have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Archie Williams struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Redwood's way against Archie Williams in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Redwood made off with an 8-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Giants since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
