The Northeastern Clinton Cougars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 75-19 victory over Beekmantown at home. Northeastern Clinton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.
Despite the defeat, Beekmantown had strong showings from Grace McCasland, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two blocks, and Payton Parliament, who scored five points along with seven rebounds. It was the first time this season that McCasland posted two or more blocks.
Northeastern Clinton's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.6 points. As for Beekmantown, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Northeastern Clinton will head out on the road to face off against Plattsburgh at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Northeastern Clinton is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in New York (they are ranked 12th, while Plattsburgh is ranked 237th). As for Beekmantown, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bellows Free Academy at 2:30 p.m. on February 10th. Beekmantown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 170th in New York, while Bellows Free Academy is ranked 12th in Vermont).
