Softball Game Preview: Northview Academy Cougars vs. Seymour Eagles

Northview Academy is 1-8 against Seymour since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars will face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Northview Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Northview Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They blew past Austin-East 19-0. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Roadrunners recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Destiny Workman made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Northview Academy got a massive performance out of Abigail Doty, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Doty a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylie Schultz, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Northview Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Seymour lost 15-4 to West on Monday. The Eagles have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Seymour saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Wright, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Seymour's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Northview Academy, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-5.

Northview Academy suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Seymour when the teams last played back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
