Russell is 1-9 against the Lions since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The pair will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Russell proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 39) but on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Raceland out 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Russell has posted since January 5th.
Russell found their leader in underclassman Elijah Neel, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Fleming, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Boyd County gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rowan County 87-51 at home.
Russell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Boyd County, they pushed their record up to 21-5 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
