After flying high against the Brookfield Bulldogs last Tuesday, the South Shelby Cardinals came back down to earth. South Shelby lost to Van-Far on the road by a decisive 60-46 margin on Thursday. South Shelby was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Van-Far apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Van-Far to victory, but perhaps none more so than Pacey Reading, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Nikos Connaway, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and eight assists.
South Shelby has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Van-Far, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Shelby will take on Clark County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South Shelby is facing Clark County at the right time seeing as Clark County is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Van-Far, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clopton at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Van-Far's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
