The Neumann Celtics won the last time they faced the Lely Trojans, and things went their way on Friday too. Neumann claimed a resounding 57-24 victory over Lely on the road. With Neumann ahead 42-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Neumann to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Mccartney, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Mccartney has scored at least 25% of Neumann's points. Sydney Martin was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals.
Jeade Leo and Maggie Poling certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Leo scored 5 points along with 3 steals, while Poling scored 3 points along with 6 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Neumann and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Lely, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Neumann will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Monsignor Pace at 6:15 p.m. on November 25th. As for Lely, they will take on Barron Collier at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Barron Collier focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
