Two dominant backs in Rashad Robinson and Deshaun Hille are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lincoln Hornets will look to defend their home field on Friday against the University City Centurions at 7:00 p.m. Lincoln will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Lincoln gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past La Jolla 54-3. That looming 54-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Hornets yet this season.
Lincoln had a senior duo take command as Junior Curtis rushed for 68 yards and three TDs on only nine carries and Kainan Manna threw for 168 yards and one touchdown on only eight passes. Courtney Miller-Thompson also helped out with an impressive 86 receiving yards.
Lincoln's run defense was locked in: La Jolla could only muster 1.4 yards per carry. While five picked up at least five total tackles, Jaydin Lewis stood above the rest. He picked up two sacks and made five total tackles (3.0 for loss). Lincoln didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.5.

Lincoln's defense didn't let Ty Tortorice, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Lewis was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last six games he's played. Lincoln got some further help from Jamari Sherell: he made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for University City, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They snuck past Madison with a 49-45 victory on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Centurions considering their seven-point performance the contest before.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Hille and Adrian Sola. Hille had a great game and gained 268 total yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Sola was balling out in the loss, rushing for 150 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.4 yards per carry.
Lincoln's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for University City, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Lincoln has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 245.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like University City struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 190 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Lincoln against University City in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, as the team secured a 49-0 win. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Centurions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
