Softball Recap: Buckingham Charter Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Buckingham Charter won against Faith Christian last Thursday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Knights beat the Valley Christian Lions by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Haley Griffin was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 20 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Tamia Cendejas was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Ava Santamaria was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Buckingham Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .614 or higher in four consecutive games.

Buckingham Charter's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Valley Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
