Baseball Recap: Heritage Academy Wins Going Away Against Menifee County

The Heritage Academy Eagles made easy work of the Menifee County Wildcats on Friday and carried off a 16-1 victory. Considering the Eagles have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Benjamin Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Heritage Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Elliot Kloss was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Kloss is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Boswell, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Heritage Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Menifee County only posted an OBP of .190.

Heritage Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Menifee County, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage Academy will face off against Villa Madonna at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Menifee County, they will challenge Cordia at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
