Even though Banning Lewis Academy has not done well against the Spartans recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Banning Lewis Academy managed a 34-29 victory over the Spartans. That's two games straight that Banning Lewis Academy has won by exactly five points.
Banning Lewis Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalia Burton, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elany Canada, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Colorado Springs Christian put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past St. Mary's 74-32 on the road. Colorado Springs Christian pushed the score to 51-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pirates had no chance of recovering from.
Banning Lewis Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Colorado Springs Christian, they pushed their record up to 14-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
