Berkeley has gone a perfect 3-0 against Tennyson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Berkeley has six straight victories, Tennyson has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Berkeley came out on top against San Leandro last Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 11-0 win. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.
Berkeley got a massive performance out of Mia Kaufman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Kaufman has posted since back in April of 2025. June Shaller was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Berkeley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Tennyson lost 18-8 to San Lorenzo last Thursday.
Ariele Guillen stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gabriela Olivas, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Berkeley's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Tennyson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Berkeley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Tennyson struggles in that department as they've averaged .574. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Berkeley got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Tennyson by a conclusive 21-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
