The Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades lost against the Boyd County Spartans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Chambers/Wheeler Central fell to Boyd County 44-40. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chambers/Wheeler Central in their matchups with Boyd County: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Chambers/Wheeler Central saw an underclassman step up: Michael Jesse dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Beau Butterfield, who scored eight points.
Derris Hansen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Boyd County, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Hoffman, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Chambers/Wheeler Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Boyd County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chambers/Wheeler Central will take on Bloomfield at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Bloomfield will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Boyd County on the road again on Saturday and play against Elkhorn Valley at 3:30 p.m. on January 20th. Elkhorn Valley is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.4 points per game.
