It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the La Jolla Country Day Torreys can now relate to. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 41-21 walloping at the hands of the Pilots on Saturday. La Jolla Country Day's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why La Jolla Country Day lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaden Mangini. Despite the final result, he rushed for 22 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 181 yards and a touchdown.
Banning's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Deangelis, who rushed for 188 yards and a touchdown. Steven Perez also helped out as he racked up 112 rushing yards.
La Jolla Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Banning, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 9-6 record.
La Jolla Country Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Banning will take on Woodland Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Woodland Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
