Two dominant backs in Blaine Burke and Cameron Phinizee are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Moody Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Russellville Golden Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moody will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Moody walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 28-10 victory over Scottsboro on Friday.
Burke was his usual excellent self, rushing for 141 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also picking up 46 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Hadaway, who rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Moody's defense and their four sacks. Zane Smith was especially locked on to Scottsboro's QB and sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Russellville didn't have too much trouble with Fairfield at home on Friday as they won 38-21. The victory was just what Russellville needed coming off of a 41-14 defeat in their prior match.
Phinizee got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 326 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Phinizee is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.
Moody has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Russellville, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 9-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Moody has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 152.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Russellville struggles in that department as they've been even better at 277.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
