The Lovett Lions's 20-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Saturday. They put the hurt on Dunwoody with a sharp 40-20 victory. That 20 points margin sets a new team best for Lovett this season.
Leading Lovett to victory were Vaughan McKnight and Ella Turner. McKnight dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds, while Turner scored 15 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McKnight has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Pressley, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Lovett's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-19. As for Dunwoody, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-22.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lovett will take on Luella at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Luella presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lovett in Georgia (Luella is ranked 169th, while Lovett is ranked 508th). As for Dunwoody, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Marist at 6:00 p.m. Marist is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.
