Football Recap: Mendota Skates Past Tranquillity with Ease

Mendota never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tranquillity Tigers 63-0. That looming 63-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Aztecs yet this season.

Mendota got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Lugo out in front who threw for 80 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Another pass catcher making a difference was Julian Silva, who picked up 72 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Mendota was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 206 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Mendota, adding 21 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Anthony Perez, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

The win was the third in a row for Mendota, bringing their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points over those games. As for Tranquillity, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
