Caleb Green continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 148 yards and one TD on only 13 carries. He has become a key player for Sierra Vista: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mekhi Clark, who picked up 96 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sierra Vista was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 301 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Sierra Vista didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Trenton Mitchell and Mafua Matthews-Mafua. Matthews-Mafua got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Spring Valley got themselves on the board against Del Sol on Friday, but Del Sol never followed suit. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 50-0 victory over the Dragons. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Grizzlies had established a 42-point advantage.
Spring Valley's win came from a few key players Sierra Vista will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Antwan Osborne, who threw for 135 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 30 yards. Josiah Rivera was Osborne's top target, picking up 45 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Sierra Vista's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.5 points on average over those games. As for Spring Valley, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Sierra Vista didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Spring Valley in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, but they still walked away with a 20-16 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Grizzlies' Antwon Lock, who picked up 146 receiving yards and one touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Mountain Lions to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
