The Troy Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Sullivan County Griffins at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Troy was able to grind out a solid win over Athens, taking the game 8-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
Lincoln Chimics was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Evan Woodward was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Troy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Sullivan County had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Bucktail on Thursday as they made off with a 20-5 victory. With that win, the Griffins brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Tucker Blasi was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cole Barto, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-8. As for Troy, their record is now 8-4.
Troy beat Sullivan County 6-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
