Cummings is 0-10 against Williams since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cummings Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Williams Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cummings has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Williams will arrive with three straight victories.
Last Tuesday, Cummings had to suffer through a rough 52-8 loss at the hands of Seaforth. While losing is never fun, Cummings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while Seaforth is ranked 39th).
Meanwhile, everything went Williams' way against Eastern Randolph on Tuesday as Williams made off with a 55-33 win. That looming 55-33 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Williams yet this season.
Williams found their leader in underclassman Regan Averett, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Averett's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Scout Winter, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Cummings' loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Williams, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Cummings took a serious blow against Williams when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 57-24. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cummings was down 29-9.
