The Heritage Christian Eagles can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Saturday. They blew past Arrupe Jesuit 64-37 at home. Given Heritage Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Arrupe Jesuit is ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mikaela Harvey was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Staci Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Arrupe Jesuit lost, one person who can't be blamed is Karen Alvarez. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with six steals. Alvarez is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Arrupe Jesuit struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Heritage Christian posted 16 assists.
Heritage Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Arrupe Jesuit, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.
Heritage Christian will head out on the road to face off against SkyView Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for SkyView Academy: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Heritage Christian has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season. Arrupe Jesuit will take on Fort Lupton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fort Lupton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
