The Lovejoy Wildcats were the 74-36 winner over the Alcovy Tigers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lovejoy opened the new year with a less-than-successful 60-55 loss to they on Friday. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Janae Hutcherson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Alcovy, scoring 16 points along with four steals. The contest was Hutcherson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Banks, who scored 14 points.
Lovejoy has fallen quite a ways from their 26-6 record last season and are now at 2-7. As for Alcovy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-7.
Lovejoy will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Griffin at 2:00 p.m. Griffin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lovejoy in Georgia (Griffin is ranked 145th, while Lovejoy is ranked 353rd). As for Alcovy, they will head out on the road to face off against Drew at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
